Raymond S. (Sam) Chavez EA recently retired from the IRS after 28 years in the collection division as a Revenue Officer in Albuquerque, NM. During his career with the IRS he worked as a collection Group Manager, Collection Liaison in the Problem Resolution Office, (Now the Taxpayer Advocates Office), and as an advisor in Special Procedures Function. Sam was appointed as an instructor to the teaching cadre for the Southwest District CPEs. He has served as the lead instructor, and has taught all phases of Revenue Officer training from basic to advanced, as well as on the job instructor for new Revenue Officers and participated in the mentorship program.


Sam has been married to Anna for 33 years; they have two children and 4 grandchildren, (#5 on the way). Prior to being employed by the IRS Sam Received his BS (in Education) from New Mexico State University and served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps for 5 years. He currently is President of his local School Board where he has served for 11 years.
